CHARACTER CREATION
BUILDING A STRONG STRUCTURE
ART OF STORY WRITING
To have an award-winning screenplay, you have to figure out two main points: Create a suitable story to convert into a screenplay and write it down in the right format. And then find a decent production company or festival/competition to submit to.
In this workshop, Emine Dursun explains the important points and tricks from both sides as an experienced festival director, jury member, and as screenwriter/ script doctor.
There will be three chapters:
What to write? This is the creative part: Story, Storytelling, Style, Characterization, and Dialogue.
How to write? The technical part: Formatting, Structure.
Why write? The idea behind the story and the meaning will add value to the creative work.
These parts will be told according to festival criteria most commonly used and the common point of view of producers.
They’ll also focus on some of the important competition criteria, such as Nicholls Fellowship, Blue Cat, NYISA, etc.
